A Passionate start-up
OCTLIGHT is a spin-out company from the Technical University of Denmark founded in 2014 by a team of engineers and entrepreneurs with a drive to bring innovative technology to help medical doctors in treatment of major healthcare problems.
The company is based at Scion DTU Science and Technology Park in Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark.
The company is using DTU Danchip National Center for Micro- and Nanofabrication which is a 1350 m2 class 10-100 ISO-9001 certified cleanroom facility with a III-V production line.
The company is steered by a Board of Director combining knowledge in company building, medtech investement and high-tech product industrialization.
Thor has more than 10 years’ experience in fabrication of semiconductor technology. He has driven the company to its present stage from his Ph.D. work. Thor is responsible for the overall management of the company.
Kresten is an expert in semiconductor lasers and fabrication technology. He has built a laser fabrication facility and has experience from the Danish telecom company GiGA, sold to Intel. Kresten is responsible for the scientific oversight of the company supporting our vision.
Brian has more than 10 years experience from 4 start-ups and was part of building a startup hub in Shanghai. He has been building up the business case and worked to spin-out the company from DTU.
Board of Directors
Bent has a background in equity financing in London and Denmark. Bent is an active investor in several start-up companies.
Anne Sophie is investment director at the innovation incubator SDI with executive management experience of startups.
Jacob has more than 10 years of executive management experience from high-tech companies within optics, sensors and electronics.
Jakob has more than 20 years of executive business development experience as well as management experience from high-tech companies, the major part of his career working with photonics.
Jes Broeng is a serial entrepreneur, and a professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). Jes Broeng holds 17 patents and is co-founder of Crystal Fibre (now NKT Photonics), Norlase, Bifrost Communications, and Aqubiq. He is a mentor to several Danish start-ups and an angel investor.
Michael Larsen is Professor at Region Hovedstaden where he heads the research activities within retinal diseases. He has more than 10 years of experience in the testing of new optical technologies for diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases.
