OCTLIGHT was established in 2014 based on spin-out of VCSEL technology from the Technical University of Denmark. The company was founded by a team of engineers and entrepreneurs with a drive to bring innovative technology to help medical doctors in treatment of major healthcare problems.

The company is based at DTU Science Park in Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark where it has access to world class facilities keeping close ties to The Technical University of Denmark.
The company is using a ISO-9001 certified III-V foundry and global mix foundry manufacturing.
The company is steered by a Board of Director combining knowledge in company building, medtech investement and high-tech product industrialization.
Kresten is an expert in semiconductor lasers and fabrication technology. He has built a laser fabrication facility and has experience from the Danish telecom company GiGA, sold to Intel. Kresten is responsible for the scientific oversight of the company supporting our vision.
Thor has more than 10 years of experience in fabrication of semiconductor technology. He has driven the company to its present stage from his Ph.D. work. Thor is responsible for the overall management of the company.
Board of Directors
Finn has decades of extensive management experience as group CEO and majority owner from building Informationsteknik Scandinavia and DIS A/S into a worldwide leading conferencing audio provider until it was acquired by Shure in 2011. Finn is investor and holds board positions in several companies.
Kirsten Winther is investment director at the innovation incubator SDI with executive management experience of startups.
Jacob has more than 10 years of executive management experience from high-tech companies within optics, sensors and electronics.
Jakob has more than 20 years of executive business development experience as well as management experience from high-tech companies, the major part of his career working with photonics.
Peter E. Andersen has more than 20 years of experience in research and development of biophotonic imaging modalities, light sources for biomedical optics, including developing OCT systems, and nonlinear microscopy. He leads the activities within biomedical optics at DTU Health Tech.
Michael Larsen is Professor at Region Hovedstaden where he heads the research activities within retinal diseases. He has more than 10 years of experience in the testing of new optical technologies for diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases.
